Stamullen is a small community on the east coast of Ireland, north of Dublin City. Located approximately 9 miles south of Drogheda, approx. 5 miles from Balbriggan and approx. 20 miles north of Dublin Airport. Stamullen village has experienced rapid growth over the last number of years giving rise to local investment and new employment opportunities with the opening of new shops and amenities.
Stamullen is bounded on the south by the River Delvin, which runs eastwards to the sea at Gormanston.
The name "Stamullen" comes from the Irish, Tech-Mic-Mellan, meaning house or church of Mullan's son and it is first recorded in the Annals of Ulster, which tells us that a battle was fought here in the year AD. 1034. |
